seriously …

Motorola, Samsung, Apple … all of you … are you gone totally mad? Put your lawyers back to their sandboxes where they BELONG and get back to what you are f***ing best at! Inventing cool gadgets that the customer decides to buy and not a court!

just my two cents…

travelling with a stranger

Yesterday on my ride back from the OpenRheinRuhr helpers barbecue (no we didn’t barbecue the helpers!) a guy came towards me and asked me if i could take him with me if my ticket would allow this. As i am a helpful and kind guy, well mostly, i said yes. He told me he was born in Moldova and is looking for a job here, to be able to feed his family. I was impressed by his optimism to actually get a job and his thrill about Germany and all the high-tech here. He was, for example quite amazed as he noticed that an ICE is actually powered with electricity and not with diesel. This remembered me how often we actually complain about our situation and our terrible lives and forget people like him. Travelling over a half continent wearing worn out shoes and still being so optimistic to get some money for supporting the family back home.

read out the shuttercount of a Canon EOS 1100D

For those of you that use a current Canon EOS dslr and wanted to read out their shuttercount at some point had to figure out that there is no way of getting it because popular tools like EOSInfo won’t work. But finally there is a solution to that. Unfortunately this is only available to Linux users. The only thing you have to do is install gphoto2 and run the following command at the terminal:

gphoto2 –get-config /main/status/shuttercounter

with the command:

gphoto2 –list-config

you will get a full list of the information that are available.

AntiSüß and Better than Expected

Yesterday i did some experimenting with my 50mm f1.8 on my Canon. The results (all completely in B/W) you can find on flickr.

Introducing: shuttercount.eu

From now on i will be using shuttercount.eu as my personal picdump you will only find some highlights there and for the future the only place where you will get everything is my flickr account

Two months with the Canon EOS 1100D – a short review

I got my Canon EOS 1100D for about two and a half months now and to sum it up: this thing ROCKS.

Easy to use, handy, good quality, fast (even if some people/magazines/websites complain about low speed at doing serial shots … I suggest using some fast sd cards). Currently I am using the camera with a Canon 50mm 1,8 EF and the 18-55 kit lens plus a borrowed Canon 70-300 USM with no Image Stabilizer.

EMS – this years highlights

In only 27 days, the time has come. This years Eier mit Speck festival is happening in Viersen. Here a little collection of my highlights from this years lineup:
